Local Spotlight: Hope Island

With a name like Hope Island, you’d be right in thinking this coveted Northern Gold Coast location has a lot to live up to, and luckily, it does!

A place synonymous with prestige, a ‘golf buggy lifestyle’, incredible waterfront views and a general ambience of possibility and excitement, let’s take a look at 3 key features about Hope Island, and what this means for the locals who are lucky enough to call this place home.

‘Hope’ since 1867

While the name summons up positive emotional imagery, Hope Island actually gets its name from Captain Louis Hope, the colonial aristocrat who was granted the – then-named ‘Boykambil’ Island in 1867, as a gesture of thanks and recognition for his work in developing the Queensland sugar industry.

Hope had spent the previous 20 years building sugar plantations at Moreton Bay, and although he was granted the Island in name, he didn’t actually get much chance to experience living there himself. Naturally, Hope Island of the late 1800s was vastly different from the place we all know and love today, but we’re sure the Captain would be very impressed by his namesake location, flourishing with the very best of lifestyle and holiday vibes.

What do we mean by ‘lifestyle’?

You hear the word ‘lifestyle’ thrown around a lot in the world of real estate, especially prestige real estate, so what makes it so important in choosing where to invest your money or settle down with your family (or purchase that all-important holiday home)?

Well, you can’t look past the abundance of ways you can flex your favourite past-times, all of which align with an easygoing pace of life, a vacation spirit and an indulgence in hobbies that bring you joy.

For golf lovers, you truly are spoiled for choice with three top-rated golf courses available to play on, known as some of the best that Queensland has to offer. Links Hope Island Golf Course spans over 18-holes set to a backdrop of stunning Australian nature and wildlife, with the course having been designed by 5 X British Open Winner Peter Thomson – absolutely sealed with the pro tick of approval.

Let’s not forget that if boating is your thing, you’ll always find yourself at home in Hope Island. With a buzzing community of fellow boaters, you’ve got your pick of several marinas as well as properties with their own private docking options for boats big and small.
