A look at the Gold Coast’s Sovereign Islands

“For a man’s house is his castle, and each man’s home is his safest refuge.”

This saying was first enshrined into English law in 1628, and reflected the recognition that your home is truly a place where you should rule!

And what better place for a King or Queen to take refuge than on the aptly named “Sovereign Islands”. Nestled in the prestigious northern Gold Coast, to many, Sovereign Islands are the Jewel of the Crown in what is Paradise Point

Absolute waterfront

Home to just over 700 of the most prestigious waterfront homes in Queensland, the Sovereign Islands comprises six interconnected islands located toward the northern end of the Southport Broadwater. The islands themselves are then connected by bridge to the mainland of Paradise Point. Built upon existing natural sand islands plus serious land reclamation, it was the first waterfront development that came complete with purpose-made deep-water frontage allotments. These allotments mean that you can moor and set sail at all stages of the tide (high, low etc) and can accommodate larger vessels and yachts.

Right on the Southport Broadwater, Sovereign Islands’ residents enjoy uninhibited access to the Gold Coast Seaway at all times, day or night, whilst also benefiting from the calm and safe harbour offered by the shield of South Stradbroke Island.

Architecture and design

Affectionately known in the past as “millionaire’s row”, Sovereign Islands showcase some of the most beautiful architecture on the Gold Coast. Mansions, mega-mansions, and some out of this world restorations (and budgets) have resulted in some of the most prestigious homes in the Gold Coast.

There are 6 exclusive Island Precincts that are only accessible by a bridge from Paradise Point to the Sovereign Islands Gateway. The islands themselves also enjoy gorgeous Canary Palms lining the roads, red brick pavements and a beautiful outdoor lifestyle with views of Stradbroke to the east and Surfers Paradise Skyline to the west.

With friendly, 24-hour security and red-brick paved roads, this affluent neighbourhood comes with a comforting gated community atmosphere.

With the Paradise Point Promenade just a short stroll across the bridge, you are always moments away from a world of convenience.  Whether you’re seeking fine dining and boutique shopping, more down to earth takeaways or you just want to restock at the local supermarket, everything and more is at your door.

If you’re looking for a getaway close to home, only a short journey by canal or road is the Sanctuary Cove Marine Village, the World Class golf courses of Hope Island, and the 5-star InterContinental Resort.

The northern Gold Coast is home to some of the most exclusive suburbs in Australia, and amongst them, the Sovereign Islands hold their own. With world-class views, a stunning location and phenomenal homes, all within an hour’s drive of two major airports (Brisbane International and the Gold Coast), the Sovereign Islands is the perfect place for modern royalty
