Matt’s passion for economics and financial advising has laid a strong foundation for

quo, Matt possesses a magnetic presence that makes him a powerful influencer,
benefiting our clients, investors, and team alike. Matt excels in the public eye,
effectively championing our cause with his vibrant and dynamic personality.
As a Co-Founding Director of Mercer & Cooper with over 36 years of experience in building businesses within various wealth creation sectors, Matt provides a visionary perspective that guides the group’s business focus.
Matt’s early international career in financial education, coaching, and property trading sharpened his skills and shaped his character, making him creative, influential, and resilient in all business interactions.
Matt’s national experience included managing one of Australia’s leading trade brokerages. He later integrated his financial coaching business into a major financial group in Brisbane, where he led business growth, wealth education, and investment property initiatives.
Matt met Bernice 18 years into his career, and together they co-founded a financial planning firm on the Gold Coast in 2006. They subsequently developed a franchise model that strategically integrated financial planning services into accounting firms, with Matt guiding the business’ transition into franchising. In his role as head of business growth, franchise sales, and financial planning, he inspired and led a team of financial advisers and paraplanners.
Matt and Bernice later sold their financial planning business and in 2016, they formed Mercer & Cooper initially with a core focus on property investment advice. 3 years later they branched off into developing their own projects and land subdivisions.
They expanded the group 6 years into the creation of Mercer & Cooper to include real estate sales and property management.
Once Matt is passionate about an idea, he pursues every aspect of the project with relentless energy. Well balanced, he has a keen eye for detail as well as having a macro perspective attracting the support of others to amplify business objectives. He serves the Mercer & Cooper group as head of corporate growth, developments, and investment within our Develop Share model.
Matt especially loves leveraging his vast experience to offer top-tier advisory services to property investors, helping them create portfolios centered around capital growth fundamentals, rental yields, and tax benefits.
